James is Senior Director of Alvarez & Marsal's Disputes and Investigations practice in London. James brings over 15 years of experience in information technology through management, customer engagements and consultancy services specialising in information governance, GDPR and the management of dark data silos.

James has played an intrinsic part in the design and consultation of information governance systems to lead clients through data repository remediation and management, helping to deliver systems of best practice to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards. In prior roles as a consultant and Head of IT, James has lead as a solution architect to design programs to manage risk assessment, policy development, process design, program governance and end-user education in multiple client engagements, aligning each program with the internal departments such as records, compliance, security, IT, legal and the business.

Andy Maxwell

Global Information Systems Director


Andy Maxwell is Global Information Systems Director at Pyrotek operating in 35 countries and 70 locations global mainly in the supply of products to the Aluminium industry. Andy took over this role in 2006 and oversees all aspects of Information Systems and Technology and 60 staff globally. Prior to this, Andy was Europe Finance Director for Pyrotek from 1999 to 2006, having moved to Pyrotek when they acquired the Aluminium business from Burmah Castrol in 1999. The years before that were spent in a number of finance roles from auditing to manufacturing organisations.

Andy is married with two grown up children and lives in Cheltenham when not commuting to Pyrotek HQ in Spokane, WA, USA.

Steve has had a varied career at IBM where he has held leadership positions running services businesses and industry teams. In 2016 he took on the role of leading IBM's dedicated General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) programme to help clients on their journey to compliance. In this role he leads a team that bring the best of IBM's consulting capabilities in privacy, security and business transformation together with IBM's technologies in data analytics and security that enable clients to get practical with the GDPR.

Dave is a CIO focused on delivering advanced industry-leading technology that differentiates Radius Payment Solutions with Fleet Management Solutions across the Fuel Card, Charge Card, Telematics and Insurance markets. Dave participates on several IT Advisory Boards, providing recommendations to groups within Education, Industry and Government. He is also a Fellow and Fellowship Assessor with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

Mark Surguy



Mark is Partner in national law firm Weightmans LLP. He has 30 years' experience in private legal practice advising on all aspects of commercial law.

Drawing on vast experience gained in multiple sectors and contexts, Mark advises corporate organisations and institutions in the public and private sectors on their rights and liabilities, often in urgent and critical circumstances. He deals with the interface of criminal and civil law and is long-standing specialist practitioner in all aspects of commercial fraud. In the information law context, Mark obtains, resists and manages disclosure of large volumes of electronically-stored data, including data subject access requests, fraud investigations and breaches of confidentiality. He is particularly involved in the interrelationship of data privacy law with other facets of commercial law and practice.

Mark often finds himself working across disciplines alongside professionals with complimentary skill sets. Mark writes for the journal, Cyber Security Practitioner and is a consultant editor for LexisNexis PSL.® He is currently acting as consulting editor for a new publication to be entitled "International E-Discovery".

Working in various parts of technology for the majority of his working life, Terry has seen the world transform from analogue to digital several times now. Mostly he gives it a gentle helping hand, but sometimes more of a firm shove, in the right direction.

Terry leads the IT team for one of the UK's largest charities (and Social Enterprises); working across a diverse range of technology needs and disciplines. He has a particular interest in the areas of Cloud services, Security and Digital Anthropology in order to design and build secure and modern platforms that people can embrace.
