Tom Allen is the Special Projects Editor for Computing, V3 and The Inquirer. He joined Incisive Media in 2017 from the display industry; trading LCDs and quantum dots for big data and the IoT.
As well as writing, Tom regularly interviews C-level IT leaders, organises events across the three titles and complains about improper use of the Oxford comma.
Lead Strategist - Emerging Experiences, Product Technology Strategy and Architecture
Noriko is currently in an advisory role to assess the business value and audience benefit of consumer emerging technologies. Currently she is focussed on the pan BBC approach to offer conversations using voice software and AI.
Noriko was formerly employed by Sky's Product Research Group working on innovation for Sky Q voice search, innovation to product research for the Sky Kids app. Advisor to the Start Up and Investment teams.
She began her career working on the UK's first interactive TV channel back in 1996 for Videotron, Cable and Wireless, British Interactive Broadcasting, production companies, commercial advisor to start ups and Sky. She has won two industry awards and filed patents for innovation across territories.
Noriko is part of the London BBC WiSTEM a cross-divisional BBC group, which aims to inform, support, and educate women in and into careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.
Head of Artificial Intelligence Planning
King's College London
Daniele Magazzeni is Head of Artificial Intelligence Planning at King's College London. His research is in Explainable AI for safe control of autonomous robots and trustable human-autonomy teaming.
He is a frequent tutorial speaker at AI conferences. He is scientific advisor and has collaborations and consultancy projects with a number of companies and organisations. He recently founded the advisory company AIDEAS.
Director of AI and Data Economy
Zoë is Director of AI and Data Economy at Innovate UK. Zoë leads a team of experts working to identify, support and accelerate high growth-potential innovation in the UK, based on cutting-edge AI and data research and technology.
Zoë joined Technology Strategy Board in 2007 as a Technologist with the role of developing and implementing the UK's innovation strategy for Information and Communication Technology. Since then, she has held the roles of Head of Enabling Technologies, Head of High Value Manufacturing, Head of Resource Portfolio and Deputy Director - Strategy.
Zoë has a computer science background and a PhD in artificial intelligence where she developed and evaluated stereotype-based user models for personalised information filtering. Prior to joining Innovate UK, she worked QinetiQ and SEA researching, developing and demonstrating machine learning and information filtering algorithms for a range of applications including health and retail.
Zoë is a Chartered Engineer.
Senior Software Engineer
Natalia is a great enthusiast with over 10 years' experience in Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, IT and machine learning technologies. She got her PhD from University of Wolverhampton and worked in various fields such as machine translation, ontologies, information extraction and currently dialogue systems and chat bots.
Natalia is also still participating in academia by serving as Associate Editor of the Cambridge Journal of Natural Language Engineering, collaborating over research papers as well as organising conferences and workshops.
She has a strong believe in modern technology and the way it can transform businesses and everyday life of people.
NHS Health Research Authority
Gaynor has worked with the NHS Health Research Authority since January 2015. Her role is pivotal in the complex landscape of health research regulation, hence partnerships with other organisations such as the NIHR and MHRA are of prime importance. Gaynor is amidst the digital transformation of one of the Authority's key regulatory systems, the Integrated Research Application System (IRAS) and new Agile ways of working are fundamental to the success of this programme, which also seeks to address Brexit requirements. Gaynor has previously worked in social care within a Local Government setting, having been instrumental in setting up the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) with Nottinghamshire County Council.

Armando Vieira is a physicist turned into a data scientist. He started working on machine learning after his PhD in physics in 1997. From the beginning he is an aficionado of artificial neural networks, and recently he has been focusing on deep neural networks, especially for unsupervised and semi-supervised learning problems. He has more than 70 publications and he is the author of the book "Business Applications of Deep Learning", he is currently writing a white paper on Ethics of AI. Orlando is currently Chief Data Scientist of Aviva Quantum, a global data science practice with over 500 members.
Starting his career in academia, he has spent over 20 years helping organisations get value out of their data...long before ‘data scientist' was crowned the ‘sexiest job of the 21st century'.
He leads a team of data scientists, statisticians, insight analysts and targeting specialists whose aim is to understand customers better than they understand themselves, learning from vast volumes of data to create relevant and engaging products and experiences.
He is a regular speaker at industry events, and is passionate about the opportunities to use emerging technologies to evolve and transform established industries.
Prior to joining Aviva in 2016, Orlando has been:
- Chief Data Scientist at MoneySuperMarket, the UK's largest price comparison website
- Head of Customer Insight at dunnhumby, a company at the cutting edge of data science for more than 20 years
- Head of Analytics at Wunderman, one of the world's largest communications agencies.
Orlando is based in Aviva's Digital Garage in London's fashionable Hoxton Square. He holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Warwick.
Head of Data Science and Lead Data Scientist
Dr David Hoyle has nearly 30 years' experience in statistical and mathematical modelling. After gaining a PhD in Theoretical Physics he embarked on an academic career that included research at the University of Cambridge, and leading his own research groups at the University of Exeter and the University of Manchester. For the last 7 years he has worked in the private sector, initially joining a specialist stress testing modelling team within Lloyds Banking Group. This was followed by working for the customer science company dunnhumby, where he built Bayesian forecasting models for some of the world's largest retailers. He now jointly heads the Data Science team at AutoTrader UK, which is the UK and Ireland's largest digital automotive marketplace, with over half a billion visits a year to its website.
Weiting Xu is a Senior Analyst at Cazoo. With over 10 years of analytics experience at exciting brands such as Zoopla and Shazam, she has become adept at translating between the languages of data, business, and tech. She is passionate about empowering companies to understand their users and make impactful decisions using data. She is also passionate about cake. After working in many areas of digital analytics, Weiting has spent the second half of her 9-year career specialising in event tracking and product analytics. It's her mission to create order out of the chaos of Big Data. Weiting is currently Product Analyst at PatSnap.

Huma is lead data scientist at Direct Line Group. She has over 15 years of experience in artificial intelligence & machine learning across both industry and academia. She is an accomplished expert with hands on experience in development and application of deep learning, kernel methods, relational learning and ensemble methods for areas ranging from insurance to health care.
Huma has a PhD in Machine Learning from University of London. She is a co-editor of two books and has published many research articles in leading AI & machine learning journals and conferences.
